After being on hiatus for a week due to moving, I'm glad to say, my little weekly tradition is back. Its time for another mid-week slice of happiness.
It comes once every four years. Its the Summer Olympics!!! So here are you trivia points for the day!
The first Summer Olympics were held in 776 BC and ending in 393 AD. In 1896, the games were re-established and the first 'modern' Summer Olympics were held in Athens.
In 1904, the United States appeared in the football, I mean soccer, competition for the first time. Consequently, we took home the silver and the bronze that year, only losing to Canada in the finals.
In 1904, the Summer Olympics were held in the my favorite city, St. Louis!
In the same 1904 Summer Olympics, 651 athletes competed, only 6 were women. Those 6 were from the United States and were part of the archery team.
Until 1994, the Olympics were held every four years, but afterwards the Summer and Winter Olympics alternate every two years.
In ancient times, the gold medals handed out were made of pure gold. The last pure gold medal was awarded in 1912.
I hope you enjoyed some the trivia from the Summer Olympics, but now its time for the Hump Day Happy article.

Now I don't know who is and who is not a fan of Michael Phelps, but I think we can all agree that his performance during the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing was awe inspiring. Its not too often that you get to see an athlete like him compete. The last time a swimmer of his caliber was around was during the 1972 Olympics and Mark Spitz was the athlete. Mark Spitz took home 7 gold medals. I think this year is going to be very exciting! Especially since a one Ryan Lochte keeps edging out Michael Phelps. For better or for worse, I'm thinking we are in for a real treat this time around!
Other people to watch:
Dana Vollmer in the 100m Butterfly
Ashton Eaton in the decathalon
Nick Symmonds in the 800m
Jordyn Wieber in Gymnastics
These are only my early picks, but I'm looking forward to some good things from these athletes! Start getting excited! The Olympics are only 30 days away!!
Until Next Time!
Lots of Love!!
