Okay. I know it has been a long time since I've posted, but there are a few things that you have to understand. 1. My best bud in the whole world had an epic fail this summer. That's right. My computer that I got before I left for Mizzou five years ago, died. It was a very sad summer! It wasn't until the end of July when I got a new one. Then the first couple days (or rather week and a half) were so unbelieveably busy that I have literally not had a chance until now to make a lovely post. (I'll tell you all about the crazy busy in an upcoming post!) So first, let me take you back to May.
Garrett left for Commissioned Officer training May 24th. I was not a happy camper, even though I knew that I had many fun things to occupy my mind until he got back. Needless to say, I was a bit teary. I dropped him off at the airport and then I had to go to work and that was the biggest bummer of all. I really would have preferred to go home and crawl into bed and just lay there, but I did not. The following weekend was Memorial Day weekend and that's where all my fun began.

Amanda, Kristie and I had decided to take a weekend trip down to Johnson's Shut-Ins, which have been closed since December 4th, 2005. For those of you who don't know what happened, here's a little slice that I found on Wikipedia about it. "The plant was out of operation after the upper reservoir suffered a catastrophic failure on December 14, 2005, until the rebuilt and recertified structure started producing power again on April 21, 2010." So basically, we decided to go on their first major holiday weekend since 2005. Talk about crowded. Don't get my wrong we had a fabulous time! Friday night we camped and Saturday we went through the Shut-Ins and camped again that night. Here's a little slice of the weekend shenanigans.
There was lovely flat Jenna, which Amanda came up with and now I really don't remember the flat Jenna story...but it was so that she wouldn't feel left out because she couldn't come!!

Then there was dancing to "Single Ladies" with flat Jenna! (I think we might have listened to that song about 50 times throughout the course of the weekend)

Going through the Shut-Ins. Let me tell you, this place was soooo sooo much fun! I would absolutely love to go again sometime in the very near future!

Saturday night there was dancing on the picnic tables to this and that and then getting screamed at by a cranky woman who said we were being way too loud after quiet hours. (Quiet hours started at 10, and it was 10:15) Let me tell you, that woman got on her menstrual cycle and ran our butts over. Talk about a total buzz kill. The evening short of ended abruptly after that. Evil woman! Ruining Saturday night of MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!! Geez. Its camping and its a holiday weekend. Chill woman! See! Even two months later that is still annoying me!
All in all, the weekend was fabulous! We had an excellent time and Amanda and I needed the rest of Sunday and a good portion of Monday to recover from our escapades.
Tune in later to hear about party at Lake St. Louis and Anna learns to water ski. Quite an adventure that one was!
Until next time!
Lots of Love!

YAY you're back!!
ReplyDeleteShut-Ins...I've never heard of it but it looks like a blast!
Can't wait to see what else you've been doing!
xoxo
Looks like you kept yourself occupied while Garrett was gone and that probably helped the time fly! Loved the look of the shut-ins and maybe if we visit again during warmer weather we can go!!
