Madness. Just madness. School started again a few weeks ago and it has been madness. The first few weeks were a blur of busy. I think that getting back into the swing of things after having a summer off is way harder than the month off in between the fall and spring semesters. The first two weeks were interesting and fun because when I got done with class and went home, Garrett was there! He was studying for Step 2 for the first two weeks before he left for Omaha. He does not get his scores back for a while but I'm sure he rocked them just like Step 1!
We had some fun before he left. We played Disc Golf in Crystal City in the caves! That was really fun! Sorry there aren't pictures from that just yet and that's because they are on my actual camera and not my iphone. But stay tuned for those because they were super fun! Afterwards we went to Mike Duffy's sports bar...although I'm going to go ahead and dispute the 'sports bar' business. This is Missouri and Tiger football was starting that night. Guess what?! No game on there. We still ended up eating there and hanging out but we were sorely disappointed by the lack of Missouri Football. Then on Labor Day Monday, I took Garrett to the airport and he set off on his adventures in interviewing/away rotations! I think its going to be a long two months for me. However, the good news is that I get to go visit him! I have my flight to Omaha booked and I get to see him on September 21st and seeing whereas that is only a week and a half away now, I'm pretty excited!
After I dropped him off, I went to my parents house for some Labor Day fun! We had our patriotic temporary tattoos and these fun little jello shots! Yeah, who has done jello shots with their parents?! That's right! This girl!!!
So, Garrett being gone is very much messing with my sleep! I am not used to being in the house by myself, and I'm not counting the dogs because they, many times, are the source of what is waking me up at night. Its just been one of those things where every little bitty noise wakes me up and my heart is pounding and I'm on red alert trying to figure out what the disturbing noise was. If that wasn't bad enough, last Thursday when I came home from work late, there were multiple cop cars in front of my building. Seriously!? You can't really see from the picture but there are four cop cars. They had this man in the middle in cuffs on his knees. All I could think of was, get in, get the dogs, walk the dogs, get back inside. Later Garrett asked me what had happened to which I responded by saying I don't know, I was going to walk up and say officer, why is this man incarcerated?! Sometimes, I swear! So needless to say, this really didn't help with the sleep that night. Since then, I have been sleeping okay. Not great, but okay. (Achilles was getting on my last nerve last night with all his noise--and I am super tired again today)
Time to back track just a little. Friday night I went to a friend's wedding whom I have known since 2nd grade. The wedding was lovely and she looked beautiful! I just wanted to say Congratulations! (Not the greatest shot, sill iphone)
On the same day as the wedding, it was my Mama's big 5-0! We had a party at one of the neighbor's houses. I had to take pictures of my two favorite gifts that she received! The Red Solo cup on a wine stem. When my Mama opened this, she promptly said, Proceed to Party! Goodness! Love my Mama! Fabulous!
And then the wine coozie!!! I love the feathers!!! So fabulous!!
And! Lara and Brian have sent out their "Save the Dates" They are super fabulous!!! Presently, these two cuties are in the center of our fridge!!! She has said Yes! To the Dress! And in a few short weeks, we get to go bridesmaid dress shopping!! Love it! I'm ready for this because once we have the dress picked out, I will know what I will be wearing in front of the people and it will be get serious time for dieting and working out! I'm calling it, motivation! Lol!!! It will be going on my bathroom mirror right next to Rocky and Strong is the new Skinny!
Until Next Time!
Lots of Love!!

Hang in there! Away rotations suck but at least you have your family nearby plus with the trip planned it will definitely help break up that time! But sleeping was definitely something I always struggled with when Russ was gone, I don't think I ever got a great full nights rest!
ReplyDeleteYou are incredibly busy and I don't know how you are balancing everything! I'm sorry you aren't sleeping well without Garrett around and coming home to a police squad outside your apartment building doesn't help. I always snuggle with the pups when jeff is gone and it helps me sleep a lot better. I'm so glad you get to visit him really soon and get some A&G time in!
ReplyDeleteLara and Brian's save the dates are ADORABLE and I can't wait to see what the wedding dress and the bridesmaid dresses are going to look like!
