Memorial Day Weekend

What a fun filled weekend Garrett and I had this past weekend. I just love Memorial Day weekend! Ours started off with a...STREAKER!!! Omg! Never thought I would actually be somewhere when someone went streaking! (Other than at Mizzou with Claire and Jenna!! but that doesn't count) Now I don't remember what inning it was, but it was either the end of one or the middle of one, because the teams were changing. (It would seem it was the 7th. Check out the link below) We were getting ready to sit down and the crowd starts cheering...wait, what?! And then we see it. The rather tall, stark naked man running from right field. It certainly was interesting!

Anyway, after some fun at the Cards game, which Garrett was not able to attend owing to the fact that the last rotation of 3rd year is nearly done! Keep on truckin' baby!! Only three weeks to go and its 4th year!!! He was able to get the full 3-day weekend! I think it was a very welcome relief as he hasn't had any time off since Christmas. That is a long time to go without missing any days or having any time to take off. No worries though because he'll get three weeks here shortly and then hit the ground running. We get to start talking about possible residencies in future posts. (But those will have to wait!)

We left for the cabin Friday night and made it just in time for dinner! We had a fish fry, along with some deer and frogs. And some Chicken of the Woods mushrooms. Let me tell you, those were delicious!! Saturday we played in the creek and got into a seriously huge moss fight. What is it about my husband and his family getting into big fights?! Mind you, they are never dangerous fights, but seriously Christmas/Thanksgiving nerf gun/arrow fight and now the epic moss fight?! What's next? Food?!! Yes please!! These "fights" have been beyond entertaining. There is so much laughing that I'm surprised any of us actually hits another. I guess this is the life with boys. (Although, I do remember a beanie baby fight or two with my sisters! So.Much.Fun.) The moss was kind of strange too. It wasn't slimy, but more hairy. I'm sure Mr. G could have told us all about it. (Mr. G is a friend of the Huck family and knows everything about outdoor-sy things. He contributes  just about every month, or whenever it comes out,  to the Missouri Department of Conservation magazine.) The rest of the weekend was full of homemade Pear wine, circa 2011, which was delicious! There were also go-cart rides, naps, and snapping turtles.

Then on Sunday night and Monday, we played with my family in the Lou and KK painted my nails! She has been having way to much fun on Pinterest with nails. She's getting pretty good. She painted all my nails red except for the two ring fingers and on those she painted little American Flag. The look pretty cool!!!

Last night as we were recovering, and still not cleaning up, I gave Achilles the end of the peanut butter jar and he went to town. At one point, he was just laying there licking. Like too lazy to even pick up his head, but still wanting to get the peanut butter. It was too funny!

I hope that on this Memorial Day everyone took an opportunity to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice so we could enjoy all the things we love!

Remembering those heroes! May we forever know the freedom that they so willingly gave every thing for.
Happy Memorial Day!

Until Next Time!

Happy Hump Day

Are you ready for the Hump Day Happy?! I think I am, but I'm not entirely sure that some people will be. After a fun filled weekend at the cabin, there are bugs on the brain! (Thank you little nephews!) I will be the first one to tell you that I do not like bugs. However, I do like exciting new discoveries related to animals. Or in this case bugs. For example did you know....

Mosquitoes are attracted to the carbon dioxide that we breathe out from our mouths?!

Lightning bugs or fireflies are not actually true bugs or flies. They are actually beetles.

Beetles are one of the most popular pets in Japan and can be bought in many department stores.

To survive the cold months of winter, many insects replace their body water with a chemical called glycerol which acts as an “antifreeze” against the temperature.

Fascinating right? Well, my Hump Day Happy this week has to do with a huge bug that was discovered in New Zealand. Its called a Weta Bug.

I think it just looks like a giant grasshopper. Well what do you know. I looked it up on Wikipedia and they are related to some crickets. Okay so I said grasshopper, but they are pretty similar.(If you are interested, check it out,  Weta )

Sorry if my Hump Day Happy grossed you out. I thought it was kind of cool and after spending the weekend with all the boys at the cabin, yeah I have seen my fair share of bugs lately!

Until Next Time!

Happy Hump Day!

So many things have been going. I finally feel like my life is settling down for the summer. Its definitely time to take a deep breath before the final plunge. Finals were two weeks ago and before that it was test, test, test, all right in a row. I had three big tests, including my final, in a matter of 2 weeks. It really didn't leave much room/time for anything else, although I did manage to enjoy some margaritas on Cinco de Mayo. These were just a few of the study tools we employed to attempt to squish all the info into our brains for the tests. I was highly entertained. You should have seen the whole room. It was quite entertaining!

I'm pleased to say I officially only have one semester to go. Seriously, its been a long time coming. A very long time coming. I will be officially finished in December. There really is a light at the end of the tunnel. For the last few weeks, we have honestly not done a whole heck of a lot and that's mostly due to Garrett being on Surgery (last rotation of 3rd...almost 3/4 of a M.D. yay!) and also due to my finals. I'm ready for summer to truly begin!

I have started a summer project, but I am not going to post anything about it until its finished (mostly because I want to see how long it ends up taking us) I'm hoping to get it done by the time we...MOVE...again. We just can't seem to stay in one place for too long, can we?! Garrett counted it up and he has moved a total of 11 times in the last 7 years. Most of the moves were from Cape to StL, but the others were from apartments in StL to other apartments in StL. Its very entertaining. So, the weekend after Garrett is done with Surgery, we will be moving yet again. Bonus is that this will be the last time we move before the BIG move next summer to...wherever it is that we end up going. I'm very excited about that! There are several options there, sadly there are no Missouri options. So we will be saying farewell to Missouri for awhile in a year. (But more on that as the time approaches!)

Other plans for the summer include time at the cabin, laying by the pool (of course!), Marco Island with the family, hopefully a weekend with Claire and Amanda, Amanda's birthday float trip if she ever plans it, Garrett starts 4th year, and in general just relaxing and enjoying my last summer before I get tossed into the real world!

Hopefully, I'll have some fun posts!!

For the summer, I'm going to try something. I want to get myself motivated to post on my blog more. So once a week on Hump Day, I'm going to start what I'm going to call Hump Day Happy!
Each week on Wednesday, I'm going to find a good news article! Every day on the news we hear about terrible things, but once a week, I'm going to find a happy article! Or at least one that I think is happy!!!

So for the first Hump Day Happy: Just Click the Link and see my first article, courtesy of FoxNews.com
