Presidents, Dresses, Beer, Spices, and Honeymoons

Happy President's Day everyone! A very interesting holiday, I must say. I read a news article today talking about President's Day. It was about who the day is supposed to honor. Evidently, this is a disputed thing. Some say just Washington, some say Washington and Jefferson, some others say Washington and Lincoln, and still others say all presidents. It just seemed like an interesting article. I'm sure its not the first time it is debated nor will it be the last until a real official decision is made.

(Huge picture I know.)

Okay now on to the weekend recap. Friday was relatively uneventful. Saturday was way more fun! Saturday morning I went out and about town with my future mother-in-law, my future sister-in-law, and my future niece for a girls' day! It started at the bridal store yet again for some more dresses! Abby is going to be one of two hostesses who will perform the duties of the ushers but in girl form. They are going to rock the dress that the bridesmaids are wearing only in another color. We also looked at flower girl dresses even though we already have on picked out.

We also looked at mother of the groom dresses, but they are so out of date. Seriously. Style has evolved for bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses so why not mother of the bride/groom? So the quest now becomes a quest to find a pretty outfit for the moms to wear. Not a matching outfit, but outfits none the less.

After the fun at the bridal store, it was on to lunch. No girls day out is complete without lunch! We went to Schlafly's Bottleworks for lunch. I think we may have the rehearsal dinner there. No concrete plans yet on that, but its definitely worth looking in to.

After lunch, we headed down the Penzeys Spices. I do not know if you have heard of them, but oh man! So much fun! And so wonderfully fragrant! You will not find a better place for spices. We had so much fun finding and smelling all the spices. Kathy and Abby had been waiting and waiting to buy there spices from Penzeys as we had had this trip planned since just after Christmas. Everyone loaded up on essentials. I wasn't quite sure what to buy but I did get some ground sage, minced garlic, taco seasoning, vanilla sugar, and some hot cocoa mix. Garrett's parents gave me a BBQ spice set for Christmas and Garrett and I have been waiting for it to get warm enough to use it! Needless to say, there will be some spicey things coming our way.

Saturday night was the deer club party. Nothing all the eventful happened while we were there, except that Abby and I started talking honeymoons. I was so excited when earlier this week, Garrett informed me that he does get two weeks off at Christmas and that we could go ahead and start thinking about a honeymoon getaway. The contenders at present at Hawaii and St. Thomas. I am leaning more towards Hawaii because IT-IS-FABULOUS. There is no question about it. Hawaii is the best place on this planet. From its lush beauty to the authentic cuisine to its black sandy beaches to historical sites to its completely romantic feel, Hawaii is my favorite place. (even though I've only been once.)

(No black beaches on this island)

My task now is to convince Garrett that our honeymoon will only happen once and that we shouldn't skip out on it because its a bit expensive. I have to convince him that Hawaii is the place we should go. I don't think it will take much, but it is my task. Wish me luck!!!

Finding Dresses

I am pretty pumped to say that yet again, I have had amazing luck at bridal stores! I'll admit that my luck wasn't as good as the wedding dress luck, but it was pretty close. The girls tired on lots of dresses, which of course we couldn't take pictures of. We finally found an excellent one!

This is the lovely dress! You have to of course imagine it in cherry red with the sash white. And there you have it! I had so much fun with the girls this weekend! I can't wait for another weekend of fun that is soon to come. Of course, I don't know exactly when. So I've officially hit almost all of the big things: bridal gown, bridesmaids gowns, groom's attire, reception hall--includes cake, flower centerpieces, open bar, DJ, food, champagne toast for everyone, and a few other things--the church, and the photographer. I'd say I can take a small break now! Haha! Not! So many things to do in so little time! Florist and such. The next big thing I have to tackle is the guest list! Wish me luck!!

In other news, my 2nd test in a week from tomorrow. After the first one, I'm not too worried, but I do need to start studying!

Until Next Time!

Pretty Pumped!

I'm so pumped right now because in approximately 25 hours my maids of honor will be arriving for some fun!!!! We will be shopping for the bridesmaid dresses and all the fun accessories that go with it! First and foremost will be a trip to Chili's for some presidente margaritas! Get excited! Then Saturday morning, after I load them up on Starbucks, Amanda, Claire, and Lara will be trying on dresses until we have found the winner!!! Wish us luck!!!

In other news, I rocked my first nursing test last Friday and had a somewhat pleasant first day of clinicals. Let's just say, I'm glad my patient didn't have a bowel movement for me to have to clean up today! Lol!!! Garrett and I are also pretty sure that we have found our new apartment and we're pretty pumped about it. It has carpet which could prove to be interesting with a dog that sheds a bit. I guess we'll just have to register for a hardcore vacuum cleaner!

Anyway, I can't wait for these two crazies to get here so that the fun can really begin!!!

Until Next Time!

First Test

Its test time! The first test of nursing school! I'm very excited to say that tomorrow is my first test! I'm totally pumped! How lame is that?! I've done my prep! I have read all the chapters over Mobility/Immobility, Hygiene, Vital Signs, and Physical Assessment. I have done the online chapter quizzes and have only missed a few, mostly because of my own stupidness and clicking the wrong answer. Duh Anna!

I'm just hoping that the first test goes smoothly and that I do well. I'm confident that I'll do well but the fear of the unknown is a little unnerving at this point!

Anyway, weekend plans include a trip to Jackson with Garrett, going with Garrett's mom, Kathy, to Jerry's house so Jerry can play me the organ songs for the wedding, and the SuperBowl where the Packers will win.

Until Next Time!!
GO PACK GO!
